Happy Thanksgiving

A friend of mine will be spending the holiday with his extended family in New York. All guests have been told to abide by two strict household rules:

1. NO DAIRY PRODUCTS!

2. NO RED FOOD!

Edict number one is meant to accommodate a member of the family who desires a kosher meal. Edict number two is designed to prevent stains on the family’s white carpet and couches.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, no matter how crazy “yours” might be.

Happy Thanksgiving, Matt.

So the entire family has to eat a kosher meal just to satisfy the daughter? That reminds me of my family. My uncle is diabetic, so my aunt always makes disgusting non-sugar desserts and everyone is forced to eat them! I finally told my mom to stop having my aunt make desserts. Now she does appetizers instead.

Jimmy:

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Matt.

Mikhail:

Wow! That’s one crazy family!! ;) Happy TG, Matty.

overheardinphilly:

Man, what’s Thanksgiving without Strawberry Quik?

upyernoz:

i hope you brought plenty of pork products and shell fish!

H. Wren:

White carpets and white couches?

That is the epitome of craziness.

Matt:

One has to wonder whether the prohibition against red foods extends to the orange spectrum, as well. Are we talking about a Thanksgiving meal bereft of both cranberry sauce and yams?

somegirl:

wow those people should never be allowed to host anything. edict number one should be if you’re a host, you’re there to be hospitable and therefore accomodate your guests, dodos.

and i agree about the white carpet and furniture. i’m anxious wearing white clothes!

Spencer:

I would have had a tough holiday without the White Russians.

PoliticalCritic:

Great blog! Strange Thanksgiving rules, but I suppose as long as one can drink, it wouldn’t be that bad.
