Eagles - 49ers Open Thread

Live blogging the game . . . add your own observations in comments.
1Q
1:20pm: Here is one reason (among many) that I’m not an NFL quarterback: as Donovan was scrambling before throwing a 68 yard TD pass to T.O., I screamed at him to run for a first down.
1:25pm: Helmet to helmet hit on T.O. — league referees continue their policy, begun last week, of ignoring illegal hits on Eagles players.
1:29pm: Eagles 14, 49ers 0. Merrill Reese: “The 49ers defense is reputed to be strong, but the Eagles have made mincemeat of them today.”
1:36pm: Lamar Gordon runs for a first down, avoiding both the SF defense and a ref, who seemed to put a hit on him.
1:38pm: T.O. has 4 receptions and over a hundred yards with the end of the first quarter still two and a half minutes away.
1:39pm: Big game for L.J. Smith. The Eagles are showing how many options they have on offense right now.
1:42pm: David Akers hits the goalpost on a 43-yard field goal. Wow. Merrill Reese reminds us that “he is a human being, not a machine.”
2Q
1:50pm: Two beautiful plays in a row by Westbrook: first, a first-down reception on a nicely run slant, then a 31-yard run.
1:54pm: Donovan lofts a 58-yard TD pass to T.O., who, for the second time, scores and lays the ball down in the endzone, nodding his head. 21-0.
1:57pm: Akers holds his hammy and limps off the field after the kickoff. Uh-oh.
1:59pm: Wow! Lito Shepard intercepts Rattay and runs it back to the 2. Can you say rout?
2pm: Westbrook has a two-yard TD reception. Unable to get to Westbrook, a 49ers back flattens a cameraman instead.
2:02pm: With Akers sidelined by the hamstring injury, linebacker Mark Simenaeu kicks the extra point!
2:17pm: Eagles get to the 2, but move backwards. The Niners D pressures McNabb for the first time, and he fumbles the ball.
— halftime —
3Q
2:45pm: Akers comes back and kicks off to start the second half.
3pm: Eagles D pressuring Rattay, but he’s having success with short screen passes over the heads of the oncoming rushers. But the Eagles get to him on a couple of corner blitzes, and SF ends up settling for a field goal.
3:13pm: Great run by Westbrook. Mike Quick: “He just makes guys look silly.”
3:14pm: Wow. What an amazing catch by Greg Lewis for a touchdown. That was a bullet. Eagle 35, SF 3.
4Q
3:32pm: Koy!
Summary: The Eagles needed this game after last week’s debacle. The offensive line turned things around, giving Donovan time enough to read through three novels while relaxing in the pocket. It was good to see so many offensive pieces working together, from the big (Donovan, T.O, LJ Smith, Westbrook, Lewis) to the small (Lamar Gordon, Reggie Brown, Koy!). The defense looked tight, and the Eagles appear to be back on their feet. Next week against Oakland should be fun.

Any chance you can fill in at linebacker, Jillian? It looks like the Niners could use some help!

Fox’s camerawork, sound, and graphics were all screwed up the first half. They couldn’t talk to Goose until the first half was almost done. When they finally got to him, he actaully said something like, “I’m watching a great game down here.”
It was 28-0.

Ahh, you were smart enough to include times. I was already too deeply engrossed in the game and writing to include a timeline so my version is a little more difficult to follow.
GO BIRDS.
