I don’t have time today to write the requisite post on Muqtada al-Robertson, so I thought I’d ask you for your favorite bloggy links on the radical cleric. Feel free to promote your own.
Here are a few questions to ponder:
1. If he didn’t mean “assassinate” when he said “take him out,” what else might he have had in mind?
2. What would be the most appropriate method of punishment for the angry prophet?
3. What is your favorite Pat Robertson quote, and why?

G.A.Donavan:
He meant what he said or he would not have suggested covert opperatives. He had nothing else in mind except endorsing assassination. Pat Robertson is a religious extremist and with his latest radical beliefs has proposed out right murder while condemning Bush for stating that Islam is a religion of peace. This man has no more credibility than Rush Limbaugh, the admitted abuser of illegally obtained control substances. He is an embarassement to religion, spirituality, and christianity. He has no business speaking on behalf of anyone other than his own evil self.
Suzy Shedd:
Naturally, he didn’t mean assassinate — he wanted them to “take him out” on a hot date. (This must, of course, be a covert operation for wingnut christianists.)
Positive Atheism also has a Big Scary List of Robertson Quotations. Despite his statement that feminism will cause me to “destroy capitalism” (oh, the horror), my favorite quote is: “There is no such thing as separation of church and state in the Constitution.” Why? Because it’s barking mad.
Appropriate punishment? At least 10 years of intensive Scientology instruction 1-1 with Tom Cruise.

Rod suggested on my blog that by “take him out,” he meant, like on a date. “You know, get dressed up all pretty, go on a little promenade, drink some lemonade, and then, well, who knows, just see what happens next. “
Rod:
Always leaving room, of course, for the holy spirit.
