Friday Cat Blogging: Luna Contacts Her Legislators

Posted By Matt On 22nd July 2005 @ 11:39 In Politics, Cat Blogging, The Patriot Act | 8 Comments

Disturbed by the news that our elected representatives in Washington are in the process of reauthorizing The Patriotic Act, Luna took pen in paw and set to work.

Luna was upset that a renewed Patriot Act would rob Americans of their basic rights as laid out in the Fourth Amendment. She began to draft a stern letter to her legislators to tell them how strongly she felt about this issue.

She was startled, for instance, to learn the new Patriot Act would give federal agents the ability to search her home and seize her treats without a warrant or probable cause (Luna is very protective of her treats).

When she heard the news that Patriot Act had been passed, she began to despair; she didn’t realize that there is still time to act.

Luna remains on the lookout for injustice, but she could use a helping hand (preferably one with opposable thumbs).

Please help her by visiting the ACLU’s Reform the Patriot Act blog and contacting your legislators today. Time is of the essence.

Note: I’m sorry that I posted about this issue so late. Like many others, I lost this one in the shuffle. And while there is little we can do, at this point, to prevent the final passage of this bill, it’s never a bad thing to contact your legislators to let them know you’re watching.

Nardo has thumbs, but he’s a right-wing evil Zionist neocon cat. ;)

That’s okay, Laurence. Maybe he’ll listen to Bob Barr

In picture #4, Luna looks like she’s saying, “Oh the injustice!”

That’s an impossibly cute series of photos. As well as a great way to deal with issue. Cool!

[…] I don’t have the precise web chronology, but what happened next on my end is that Matt stepped in and offered the advice and encouragement needed to get the word out to more people @ Philly Future. Matt also, I think, dragged some BBA members along for ride. (Hence I forgive him for his impossibly cute and well-written Friday Cat Blogging: Luna Contacts Her Legislators). […]
